PLANTS IN PALSGAARD CASTLE PARK
Herald's Beech
Vilhelm Herold (1865-1937) has scratched his name in the beech. He gave
singing lessons to Mrs. Elisabeth Schou at Palsgaard and was frequent
guest here. Vilhelm Herold was Denmark's first international
opera star. He gave concerts all over Europe and the United States. After its
active career, he became a well-liked opera director for the Royal Danish
Theatre. Vilhelm Herold received many orders - including the Order of the Dannebrog, the Medal of Merit of Gold, as well as Greek, Saxon, Prussian and Swedish orders. He is buried at
Hasle Cemetery on the native island of Bornholm.
