Farming at Palsgaard Estate

Palsgaard Estate runs a modern agricultural business focused on:

  • Traditional crops such as wheat, grass seed, rapeseed, malting barley and cover crops that are suitable for the Danish climate and soil.
  • Sustainable practices: We use modern techniques and methods to minimize our environmental impact and promote biodiversity.
  • Innovation: We continuously experiment with new crops and cultivation methods to find the best solutions for our farming operations.

Responsible farming

At Palsgaard, we practice precision farming: we use GPS technology to document and optimize our work in the fields.

Fava beans

One of the new crops that we are experimenting with is fava beans. Fava beans are a protein-rich crop that can be used as animals feed or as food for humans. They are also a good preceding crop for others, as they can fix nitrogen in the soil. They can also help improve soil health between crop rotations.

Cultivating or own raw materials

Rapeseed oil is an important ingredient in the emulsifiers produced by Palsgaard A/S.

Fields with their own names

All fields at Palsgaard Estate have their own place names such as Håbet, Voldstedet, Kirkholm, Langemark, Møllemark and Lottrup.

Own straw boiler since 2005

The straw from our fields is used to generate heat for the estate's buildings in our straw boiler. This is a sustainable way to heat the buildings, as straw is a CO2-neutral energy source.

Supplier to the World Cup in football

At Palsgaard Estate, we cultivate red fescue grass seed, which is used for golf courses and large stadiums, among other things. We are proud to have supplied the grass seeds for the Football World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
