BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN PALSGAARD MANOR PARK
The Mill
The windmill was built in 1914, followed by the construction of a waterworks the next year. Palsgaard Estate originally operated as an agricultural and forestry business. With large areas of land and forest at their disposal, there was considerable revenue to be made, and estate owner Einar Viggo Schou was quick to ensure that all production tools were optimal.
The windmill and waterworks powered the sawmill, threshing machine and flour production. Schou made use of natural energy sources, even after building his own power plant (the current visitor centre) at Palsgaard in 1910.
