BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN PALSGAARD MANOR PARK
The Old Granary
The old granary at Palsgaard is today a well-preserved example of the architectural style seen in large grain stores across the country. The granary is equipped with a hoist and gable doors, allowing loads to be easily lifted to the upper floors. You can also see the many windows, which are closed with shutters.
The windows in the old granaries were important, as constant ventilation was essential to keep the grain dry and to prevent excess of flammable dust in the air. On the other hand, having a view was not important, so shutters were a suitable alternative to glass.
