SCULPTURES IN PALSGAARD MANOR PARK
The stele
Artist: Bjørn Nørgaard
With the new sculpture park in Humlegaarden, the Schou Foundation wants to develop the park for the benefit of both employees and visitors to Palsgaard.
The sculpture park has been created as one work in collaboration with the visual artist Bjørn Nørgaard.
The stele is the first sculpture you meet on your way into Humlegaarden. The sculpture's five building blocks represent the most important eras in Palsgaard's history. At the bottom, two reclining women show the origin, and at the top, an oval clear glass points to an unknown future.
The obelisk is a religious stele with a square floor plan known from ancient Egypt, as a granite monolith. The most famous in Denmark is the Freedom Pillar at Copenhagen Central Station, it is divided into several pieces and in sand stones.
The stele for Humlegården has a square plinth with surfaces that slope quite slightly outwards to sit on. It is 5 meters high.
